Immediate Conversion Surgery
(Teeth In A Day) in Regina
What To Expect After Immediate Conversion Surgery
Immediate conversion surgery allows you to leave with a full set of implant-supported teeth the same day — but healing still takes time. Follow these steps closely to protect your new implants and give your mouth the best chance to heal successfully.
What To Expect Post-Surgery
Swelling and bruising around the jaw and cheeks are common and may last several days.
Your temporary teeth are secured to healing abutments — they are not yet strong enough for chewing hard foods.
You may feel soreness or tightness in your jaw and soft tissues, which should ease gradually.
Pain & Swelling Management
Use ice packs in the first 72 hours: 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off.
Take pain medication as prescribed or use over-the-counter pain relief as directed.
Always take medication with food or drink to avoid stomach upset.
Keep your head elevated with pillows, especially during the first night.
Protecting The Surgical Site
Do not chew with your new teeth until instructed otherwise. Eat only soft, non-chewy foods.
Oral Hygiene
Do not rinse for the first 24 hours.
After 24 hours, gently rinse with the antibacterial solution provided twice daily.
Use a soft toothbrush to clean the remaining natural teeth and gently around the gums.
Avoid using electric brushes or water flossers near the implant site until cleared by your dentist.
Eating Guidelines
Stick to cool, soft foods like smoothies (no straw), yogurt, eggs, mashed potatoes, and soft soups.
Avoid anything hot, crunchy, hard, spicy, or carbonated.
Increase fluid intake to stay hydrated — but sip gently.
Do not skip meals; proper nutrition supports healing.
Activity & Rest
Avoid exercise, heavy lifting, or bending for at least 7 days.
Rest as much as possible in the first 24–48 hours.
Avoid sleeping on your side if it puts pressure on the surgical area.
Follow-Up Appointments
You’ll need regular follow-ups to monitor healing and adjust your temporary teeth if needed.
Once your implants have fully integrated with the bone (usually several months), we’ll begin the process for your permanent prosthetic.
