Ease Dental Anxiety With Safe, Simple Oral Sedation
If dental visits make you nervous, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to push through it alone, either.
Oral sedation is a pill taken before your appointment to help you feel relaxed, drowsy, and calm. It doesn’t put you fully to sleep, but it can make the entire experience feel shorter and far less stressful. You’ll still be able to respond to instructions, but many patients remember very little about the procedure afterward.
It’s a great option for patients who experience:
Mild to moderate dental anxiety
Fear of needles or specific procedures
Sensitive gag reflex
Trouble sitting still for long periods
Previous negative dental experiences
How Oral Sedation Works
You’ll take a prescribed sedative about an hour before your appointment. By the time you’re in the chair, you’ll feel more at ease and less aware of the sights, sounds, and sensations that might otherwise cause discomfort.
Because the effects take a few hours to fully wear off, you’ll need someone to drive you to and from the appointment.
What To Expect During Your Visit
With oral sedation, most patients feel drowsy but relaxed — like you’re in a dreamlike state. You’ll remain awake and able to communicate, but you may not remember much afterward. It’s especially useful for longer procedures or for patients who want to combine multiple treatments in one visit.
Safety And Monitoring
Your safety is our priority. We’ll review your health history, any medications you’re taking, and answer all your questions before prescribing oral sedation. During your appointment, we monitor you closely and make sure you’re comfortable every step of the way.
